yeah, condensers need extra power, hence the phantom input... level is usually like a volume fade, but where is the switch located?

input #1 is fucked up... whatever... i don't care... it's not mine :loll!:
still... whats level do? cause when i had it on #1, if i turned it more than halfway, the audo would get all distorted if i spoke above a whisper

That is the individual volume for each channel essentially... like, your input volume. So if you had a guitar and bass on two channels and the guitarist was too loud, but the mids and all are good, you can lower the level, or raise the bassists. Also if there is clipping- as seen on the level meter (thing with green/red lights) you should be adjusting down when the meter is hitting high red...

sounds like your gain is off... or the mic is busted...

Gain is just like guitar gain, it is the amount of overdrive or distortion... think of it this way... the sound is like a truck, driving through a series of tubes... gain will add more trucks, level will make tubes wider... yes, that was a joke, but it is also troof.
